| Brown Bag Book Club: Einstein's Wife |
Presented by Providence Public Library at Providence Public Library
May 29, 2012
Members of the PPL Brown Bag Book Club will discuss Einstein's Wife: Work and Marriage in the lives of Five Great Twentieth-Century Women. Copies of the book available at the Library's Circulation desk.
Inspired by her own experiences, Gabor sets out to define the unique stuff of which great women are made and chart the often tangled territory in which love and ambition intersect. The portraits of the five brilliant, married women that emerge serve as both a model and a caution to contemporary men and women struggling with the same dilemmas today. The women: Mileva Maric, scientist wife of Einstein; Lee Krasner, artist married to Jackson Pollock; Maria Goppert Mayer, scientist, mother, and Nobel Prize winner; architect Denise Scott Brown; and Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
