Friends of Ballard Park
Friends of Ballard Park is dedicated to protecting, maintaining and promoting Newport’s Only Nature Preserve. Its goals are to ensure Ballard Park remains a wild and natural space for future generations, to encourage the local public to visit and use the park, to provide educational and cultural opportunities for local youth and families, and to highlight the unique qualities and historical importance of Ballard Park.

Hosted by Carol and Les Ballard at Edgehill, 21 Beacon Hill Road in Newport, the fundraiser will feature jazz music, hors d’ouevres by McGrath Clambakes, Inc. and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event will help to fund field trip programs to Ballard Park for local school children and free events set in Ballard Park.

Start Father’s Day with fresh air and a hike of the trails at Ballard Park! Friends of Ballard Park staff will host a guided tour of the thirteen acre park providing information on its unique features and history. Meet at the Wickham Road entrance across from Rogers High School. $10 suggested donation per family.

The Newport Community Band is a forty-five piece symphonic orchestra sponsored by the Department of Performing Arts at Salve Regina University. Membership is open to all Newport-area residents, including high school students and Salve Regina students. The Newport Community Band has performed at a variety of public events.
