Art In The Park
July 5-August 23, 2012
Add Review/Comment
This year following Storytime, our new program Art in the Park encourages children to make and participate in their own storytelling magic through art. Created by Rhode Island author and illustrator, Alison Paul, this year’s summer-long project, “Providence in the Purple Crayon” is inspired by the classic children’s book Harold and the Purple Crayon. Children are invited to let their imaginations run wild, as they “draw” their world – by the end of the summer creating a life-sized interactive set featuring a host of Providence icons, from our city skyline to Rhode Island Red. Children get a chance to work with different guest artists and explore a range of mediums from paint to collage – so come to one or come to all – and dress to get messy!
