    Together at the Vets: Multicultural Festival 2011

    A community showcase celebrating Rhode Island’s diverse ethnic heritage. Celebrated story teller Valerie Tutson, who draws her tales from around the world with an emphasis on African traditions, will host the event, weaving in stories and songs from her life experiences.

    Food, fun, drummers, singers, actors, dancers, crafts, tango workshops, and salsa bands will captivate young and old in two performances from 3:00pm to 8:00pm with welcoming lobby festivities starting at 1:30pm. Performers will include Laotian, Bolivian, Hmong, Native American dancers and musicians, Chinese Dragon acrobats, Cape Verdean drummers and an African gospel chorus from Mixed Magic Theatre. Following the festival there will be a torch-lit procession for the lighting of WaterFire Providence.
