 rt\, Culture and Tourism and members of the RISD faculty to present an eve
 ning discussion of the increasingly important role of research in contextu
 alized artistic practices. We will present an overview of how research is 
 currently viewed in the world of contemporary art\, demonstrate specific r
 esearch skills\, and learn from a case study of Ellen Driscoll's Distant M
 irrors (featured at previous AIC events) how artists are bringing their ow
 n perspectives to the research process. \n \nThe panel will include:\n\n  
   Jennifer Liese\, Director of the RISD Writing Center\, Rhode Island Scho
 ol of Design. Jennifer is interested in how artists and designers reinvent
  and redefine traditional\, fact-seeking research practices.\n    Ellen Pe
 traits\, Research & Instruction Librarian\, Rhode Island School of Design.
  Ellen works with artists to help them integrate research thinking\, skill
 s and sources into their practice.\n    Anne West\, writer\, theorist\, an
 d independent curator with interests in phenomenology\, poetics\, and inte
 rpretive human studies.\n    Ellen Driscoll\, Professor of Sculpture at RI
